Beat the Freeze

Saw this beautiful photo online earlier of a very chilly Chicago –

Given how crazy the temperatures are, thought it might be a good time to put together some of the things that help with a super cold winter… Luvocracy takes a while to add the items properly, but if you click through here you can see them on their site. Will add them to this post once they appear with prices!

My favourite winter items are –

Tommy Hilfiger down duvet coat I bought this several years ago on a trip to the US and every autumn am so pleased I did! It’s kept me warm and toasty while waiting on cold days in London, walking around Chicago in the middle of winter and on our trip to the Arctic Circle. It’s not the most flattering of coats in the world, but I have yet to meet anyone with a better coat. I’ve sprinted for a fair few trains in this coat and it gets hot pretty quickly, but there isn’t that same horrible itchy stickiness that you get with a wool coat. It’s also machine washable and packs down pretty small. Honestly, I wish I had bought one sooner.

Cashmere snood from PoetryThis was a wonderful Christmas gift last year that is extra luxurious because it is so, so soft and warm. and another one of those things that makes going outside in cold weather delightful. The snood factor is awesome because there are no ends that unwind or flap around… Just a loop of luxury to  keep out the breeze around your neck!

Heat Tech everything I cannot sing the praises of Heat Tech clothing enough. I have several pairs of leggings that I wear instead of tights – so much warmer and more practical. There is a seam to be seen, but I would much rather have a seam than cold legs any day! The tops are very versatile and dress up or down easily. Light weight and very warm, I layered this while we were in Norway and was as snug as a bug in a rug. Amazing.

Here are US versions of Poetry and Heat Tech.

Hope you are all staying safe and warm!
